Three steps
to your first send.
Open the Mac companion.
Once installed, allow Accessibility access so it can paste text into the field you’re using. Choose “Pair Phone” in its menu bar.
Pair your iPhone.
Join the same local network. On the iPhone, go to the add-Mac page and tap the plus button. Complete Face ID, allow Camera access, and scan the fresh QR code.
Choose a field. Say something.
Click the destination text field on your Mac, then tap the large microphone button on your iPhone. Speak, check your draft, and tap the main text pane once to send.
A FEW SIMPLE MOVES
Less tapping.
More talking.
- Tap the text pane once
- Send the current draft and keep the session open. Only the main text pane sends.
- Tap “Recording” or “Muted”
- Mute or unmute the microphone without losing your draft.
- Shake
- Clear the current draft and start fresh.
- Pinch inward
- Discard this draft and return to the home screen.
- Swipe left or right
- Switch between paired Macs during a session.
- Press and hold the transcript
- Temporarily pause the microphone and automatic sending. Release to resume; releasing a hold never sends. If already muted, it stays muted.
IF SOMETHING GETS IN THE WAY
Good questions.
What will the app cost?
The launch plan includes 10,000 free words, then a $4.99 USD one-time In-App Purchase for unlimited words. The Mac companion is free. There is no subscription, and other Apple storefronts show their local price. The iPhone release is still pending App Store approval.
Existing purchases and redeemed free-full-unlock offers keep their permanent unlock. Restore Purchases uses the Apple Account that received the unlock.
How will the referral bonus work?
Referrals will be optional. Share your invite from Settings, and a friend can use it before their first successful send. Once a separate app installation is verified and that send is confirmed, you receive 10,000 bonus words for that qualifying friend. There is no limit on qualifying referrals. Bonuses stack and do not expire. Each qualifying installation earns its referrer one bonus; repeated sends do not earn another.
Sharing a link, opening it, or installing alone does not count. Verification needs internet access and may remain pending while offline. The program verifies an app installation, not someone’s personal identity, and never asks for your contacts or your friend’s name.
The referral program is pending public release. You can decline it and still use the free words or buy the permanent unlock. The app may offer one quiet invitation after ten successful sends or after unlocking; Settings keeps the referral controls available.
What if I already reserved a free launch copy?
New first-1,000 reservations are closed, but previously accepted reservations remain valid under the original terms. Confirm your existing reservation or request a new verification link. Your free full-unlock redemption instructions will arrive at launch. For help, email support@saythere.app.
Can I delete my referral information?
The planned referral controls in Settings include deletion. This removes your active server registration and referral links. It does not remove a bonus already saved on a phone, erase another person’s independent registration, or revoke an Apple purchase. Free-word counts stay on your device.
The QR code won’t pair.
Generate a fresh code from “Pair Phone” on the Mac and scan it promptly. Keep both devices on the same local network. Make sure Face ID is enrolled and Camera and Local Network access are allowed for the iPhone app.
Guest Wi-Fi can isolate devices from each other. A VPN or firewall may also prevent the phone from reaching the Mac.
The Mac says my text was copied to the clipboard.
Your text arrived, but Say There could not paste it automatically. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable Say There. On some macOS versions, this permission is called Device Control and Data Access. Then click the text field you want to use before sending again.
To use the text that already arrived, click your destination field and press Command-V. Check whether it is already there before pasting or sending again.
I can see my words, but they aren’t appearing on the Mac.
Check the Mac name in your recording session and keep both devices on the same local network. Click the destination text field on that Mac, then check that Say There has Accessibility permission.
If delivery is uncertain, check the Mac before sending the same draft again. This helps avoid duplicate text.
Can I choose when it sends?
Yes. Tap the main text pane once to send manually, or open the settings gear to enable your own stop phrase or a silence timer of 2, 3, 5, or 10 seconds. The countdown bar shows when an automatic send is approaching.
Tap the auto-send area at the bottom to toggle the timer without changing its duration. Manual sending remains available.
Does it always press Return?
The Mac companion attempts Return when it can verify focus. The receiving app decides whether Return submits the text or inserts a new line. Some applications or fields may require you to submit manually.
Where are my drafts and recordings saved?
The app doesn’t create audio recordings or transcript files. Per-Mac drafts stay in the iPhone app’s memory and disappear when the app terminates. After sending, text is on your Mac’s clipboard and in the receiving app; those systems control its retention.
Can I paste something into a draft?
Yes. Use the paste control at the upper left of a recording session to add text from the iPhone clipboard to that Mac’s current draft.
Which devices and languages are supported?
The app currently supports English on compatible iPhones running iOS 26 or later with Face ID enrolled. The companion requires an Apple-silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. Both devices must share a local network, and the phone app must stay in the foreground.
